From the Putnam Riders about Ninham 2017:
TLDR: PLEASE do not ride on the parking lot side, the club is about to enter talks with the DEP to legalize these trails but we have to be careful not to ride any of them until then.
Ninham update. So it's been a while and I wanted to let folks know that though it's been a long, slow climb, the Putnam Riders (the trail stewards for Ninham) are making progress. To recap, the DEP (owners of almost all the land on the parking lot side) directed the Putnam Riders to first work with the other landowners at Ninham (DEC, Putnam County...) to formalize and document access and stewardship before having discussions about access to the DEP property. The Putnam Riders are just about at that point, the formal documents are in the final stages.
So very soon the Riders plan on entering discussions with the DEP. What this means is now is a critical time for us to continue our diligence of staying off the parking lot side trails. Yeah, this is hard to do but we're getting closer to the "beers in the parking lot" and having access formalized once and for all. Thanks for everyone's cooperation. It'll all be worth it. _________________ Pedal, b*tches!!

The parking lot side has alot of trees down. I'm pretty sure Deer Ear and many more are offline still. Worth exploring I think, not closed except where signed as such.
The tower side is open with warnings posted that Arsenic levels have been high (mining happened there). _________________ Pedal, b*tches!! |
