Notice of Public Comment Period for the Draft Guidance for the Siting, Construction, and Maintenance of Single-Track Bike Trails on Forest Preserve Lands in the Adirondack and Catskill Parks
The Draft Guidance for the Siting, Construction, and Maintenance of Single-Track Bike Trails on Forest Preserve Lands in the Adirondack and Catskill Parks (Management Guidance) provides guidelines solely for the management of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC) single-track bicycle trails (bike trails) on Forest Preserve lands. It is intended to help land managers consistently design, construct and maintain bike trails and bike trail networks that protect natural resources and wild forest character while also providing a valuable recreational opportunity. The draft Management Guidance covers Forest Preserve lands in Clinton, Delaware, Essex, Franklin, Fulton, Greene, Hamilton, Herkimer, Lewis, St. Lawrence, Saratoga, Sullivan, Ulster, Warren and Washington counties, New York.
Comments are welcome and will be accepted by the contact person listed below until December 8, 2017. The draft Management Guidance is posted on the web at: http://www.dec.ny.gov/lands/111619.html.

Sure there is, on page 4 in the Definitions: "“Bicycle”:A non-motorized, human-powered, cycle designed or used for cross country travel on roads or trails."
Despite *anything* Bicycle manufacturers say to the contrary, E-bikes are MOTORCYCLES, and expressly prohibited from most trail networks. GOOD RIDDANCE. Those jerks at 909 on E-bikes are on borrowed time, let me tell you... |
