There's a new mile long creekside trail completed that connects 2 others to form a nice loop. It's marked with orange discs, next step is to get it GPS'd...
Ideally people will visit Stissing more and keep the trails in "nicely used condition". There's about 8 miles of marked trails, and some old unmarked too. There's a fine loop of about 5 miles easy to access from Hicks Hill Rd.
Its great woods and has potential for more trail.
It would be a great place for a 2 hour ride, -perfect for getting the dust off the bike and shedding the winter coat!
I urge people to explore the place.
Questions about getting around, or any comments are welcomed!
Feedback from the DEC is positive, if mtb'ers/hikers/and runners can keep the momentum going, there's room to grow.
At the least, I hope we can prevent the trails from getting overgrown again!

This is great news.
Stissing Rules.
We need to plan more rides there to get these trails established & mapped.
Thanks for all the work on the trails and with the DEC up there Tim. |

There's rumblings of interest for this weekend, I can do either day for a 9-10 start.
A tour plan might work best with an under 2 hour lowland side, and an optional add of 2 hours for the harder side. _________________ Pedal, b*tches!! |

I'm still rumbling and Saturday is the better choice, unless one likes to get wet, then Sunday is better. |

I will be moving to the area mid to late April, so I am definitely interested in riding there and helping out with the trails. Maybe we can even schedule a weekly ride? Not sure if I can make it this weekend. |

There are no 'new' trails built recently that I know of east of the creek.
But, if you havent found the routes that bypass the flooded bridges, those might be new to you.
From the inner lot near the creek, head east and cross the bridge. After crossing, look for the less used trail heading up into the pines and follow it around them to the back of the pine grove (east). Head downwards towards another creek that fills the pond and youre on the way to the alternate routes to the ridge. It is rideable -someone had flagged it with pink ribbons, there is also some ugly orange paint on some trees.
I cant tell you much more w/o showing you --except turn left at the tree. _________________ Pedal, b*tches!! |
