I'm building a single speed and need some advice. What gear ratios do you all reccomend for our riding conditions here in the gorgeous and hilly Hudson Valley _________________ I wanna ride!!!

32:20
works good for me at 909, Jockey hill, etc.
I am a slow rider though, you might wanna run a bigger gear.

When I take off my skirt and bring out the SS it's a 32:18, and it can be a bit much. Especially on the hills. So I'd say the 32-20 is the way to go. I've seen a SS hub with 2 gears on the back that are easily switched. That way you can have the best of both worlds. Not sure of the brand but maybe some other bike nerd would know. Yeah. |

44 - 13 should do you fine. Just make sure you always going down hill I started out with 32 - 21. Its was great for climbing but, don't ever get on the road. I am currently running 32 -17 which I get by with pretty well but, Some days it just feels like work. My next drive train will be 32-18. |

Thanks for all of your input. It's down to 32-18 or 20. Gotta see which one matches my purse. _________________ I wanna ride!!!

I run 32:21. I didn't get to ride much 'cause I put it together late in the season but it seemed to be a comfy ratio for Jocky Hill.
P.S. I don't wear skirts.
